Completed July 2007.

2007 American Eagle and Globe.

With a wingspan of 16 inches, height of eight and one half inches and depth of two inches this American Eagle, perched atop a globe of the earth, weighs 97.74 troy ounces of sterling silver and was cast at my shop in one pour.  Each representation of a specific feather is both three dimensionally distinct from the surrounding feathers and carries great surface engraved detail.

The eagle is perched atop a four and one quarter inch diameter sterling silver globe.  Surface engraving and chasing on the globe depict the continents and oceans of the earth, equator, Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. The American continents face forward.  The globe and azimuth ring are secured to the ebony Gabon base by way of a cup form decorated in the American Rococo style. The globe is surrounded by a azimuth ring five inches in diameter marked with engraving and numerical stamping of the latitudes of the earth. The globe, azimuth ring and cup weigh 51 ounces of sterling silver.

The ebony Gabon solid base is eight inches at the bottom, five inches high and is shaped to depict 13 disks set atop one another. The base is wrapped in sterling silver ribbons and rests on a plinth one half inch high.

The entire piece breaks down into 48 separate pieces for conservation purposes. Forty seven made of sterling silver and one of ebony Gabon.

The complete work stands 18 inches tall, 16 inches wide and eight inches deep.  It was executed, with great pride, in my workshop with no subcontracting of any kind required.

This work, completed on July 4, 2007,  presently resides in a private collection.
